There are two options for importing shapefiles into an existing field and activity:
- With the Create Fields button on the first-level map page
- In the Sampling Activity Edit pages
Option 1
Click Create Fields in the bottom right corner of the map, and then click Import Files
Click Select Files and choose the shapefile that you want to import into an existing field. Field selection will be done on the next step
Since the field boundary already exists on the account, the sampling file will automatically assign to the field based on the location. The name of the field is displayed on the import window
If you decide to import the shapefile as a new field, click the dropdown arrow next to the field name and select
Note: Reference Importing a New Field for further instructions on steps to import a new field
Next, set the "Use your polygons as" setting to the shapefile type that you are importing. In this example, we are importing zones and we will need to select a sample ID attribute
When complete, click Next
On the Set Up Activities page, enter a new name for the activity. This can be a generic name that helps distinguish one activity from another within the same year. Examples for the name could be the type of samples that are being collected (ex: Fertility), or the date that the activity is created.
Next, select a year for the activity. By default, the current year will be selected
Optional tags can be added to the activity. Applying tags to activities helps filter data for a year. For example, tagging an activity as "Spring" or "Fall" will help filter activities by season on the map, or when exporting data.
Or you can add a custom tag by click next to Add a New Tag ,then pressing OK
By click Assignees you can assign the new activity to a user within your organization. Clicking on the dropdown menu will give you a list of available usernames to choose from.
The Preview column gives a quick view of the map layers that will be used to create the sampling activity. Clicking the edit button next to the map preview allows you to add or edit map features that are apart of the activity. This allows you to do things like swap the boundary file from a different one, or choose a target point or zone map layer if one exists in the field's reference layers. Or, you can remove a map layer by selecting No boundary/zones/targets. Click Done at the bottom of the window to exit the activity layers page.
They Undo icon next to the map preview will reset the activity settings back to default, and the red X will remove the field from the bulk activity setup list.
Clicking Bulk Apply in the upper right corner opens a window that allows you to set activity attributes for all activities at once. Click Apply once your settings are entered
To finish, click Create Activities
