Soil Sampling tasks are organized under years and saved as Activities. Below are steps to create and edit sampling activities.
Creating a New Activity
When creating or importing a new field, a new activity will be created for the field. Reference Creating New Fields for more information on creating activities on new fields.
A new activity for an existing field can be created on the field-level page. Click New Activity to create a new sampling activity for the field
Enter an activity name, and select the year for the new activity. The activity name will default to the creation date. You can click in the activity name box to change it to something else that helps label activities within a year if you want. Adding a Tag to an activity applies a label that can be used to sort activities on the map, or while batch exporting results. Click the tags that you want to add to the activity. To add additional tags, click the down arrow in the tags box and add another tag to the list.
Once all the information is entered, click Create Sampling Activity. This will direct you to the activity editing pages. For additional information on field editing, reference Editing Fields
Creating a New Activity from a Previous Activity
To create a new sampling activity using the target points or zones from the previous activity, click New Activity on the right side of the field page
Enter the activity name, sampling year, and any tags that you want associated with the new activity.
Next, select whether you want to use the target points or zones from a previous sampling activity, or start fresh for the new activity.
This section will show the zones and/or points from the most recent previous activity. If you want to choose a different activity from the past, click the activity name (in this case "Trial") or click Previous Setup. This will give you a list of activities to choose from.
If you want to start from scratch for the new activity, click Start Fresh. Once this step is completed, clicking Create Sampling Activity will direct you to the activity editing pages to make any additional edits, if needed.

Bulk Activity Creation
Activities can be created for multiple fields at once. Start by pressing Select for Action on the bottom of the field list panel on the right side of the Maps page. Then select the fields you want to create new Activities on by clicking the checkbox next to the field name.
Once fields are selected, press the ... button in the lower right corner and select Set Up Activities
The activity set up window allows you to enter details for each of the new activities. Attributes include:
- Activity Name: This is the primary label for the activity. The name will default to the date of creation
- Year: Sets which year the activity will be sorted in
- Tags: Additional labels that can be put on the activity. Default options include seasons, such as Spring and Fall. You can also create your own custom labels
- Assignees: Allows you to assign activities to users within your organization. Clicking the dropdown gives you the available usernames to choose from within your organization
The Preview column gives a quick view of the map layers that will be used to create the sampling activity. Clicking the edit button next to the map preview allows you to add or edit map features that are apart of the activity. This allows you to do things like swap the boundary file from a different one, or choose a target point or zone map layer if one exists in the field's reference layers. Or, you can remove a map layer by selecting No boundary/zones/targets. Click Done at the bottom of the window to exit the activity layers page.
They Undo icon next to the map preview will reset the activity settings back to default, and the red X will remove the field from the bulk activity setup list.
Clicking Bulk Apply in the upper right corner opens a window that allows you to set activity attributes for all activities at once. Click Apply once your settings are entered
Once all attributes and settings are completed, press Create Activities to finish the bulk activity creation process
