Navigate to the Maps page and open the field and activity you wish to sample
Press Start Sampling on the right side of the page
Press the dropdown arrow next to Collecting Modes and switch it to GeoBag Mode
Navigate to your first sampling location and collect your soil sample, then open and fill the GeoBag with your soil. Make sure to fill the bag to the white line on the side of the bag. Failure to fill the bag with the recommended amount of soil may cause issues when packaging the soil into GeoTubes and analyzing with the Radicle Lab.
Use the wire twist-tie on the top of the GeoBag to roll and tie the bag shut.
On the app, press the Scan GeoBag button on the right side of the page
If prompted to allow the Radicle App to access your device's camera, press Allow
Once the camera is open, place the QR code on the GeoBag in the etched box on the bottom of the page
Once scanned, the camera page will close and you will see a collection point drop on the map at your location
Repeat steps 4-9 for all other sample locations in the field. Press End Sampling to exit sampling mode.
GeoBag Transfer
GeoPress
Open the Radicle App menu in the upper left corner, and select Manage GeoTubes
Select GeoBag Transfer on the Manage GeoTubes page
Select the GeoPress icon at the top of the page to open the GeoPress control window. Connect to the GeoPress, and press Reset when prompted. Once the lights on the GeoPress turn green, it is ready to use
Close the GeoPress control window, and press Scan GeoBag. Use the camera on your device to scan the QR code on the GeoBag
Once the QR code is recognized, the camera will close and the sample will be ready to package with the GeoPress. If you would like to rescan your sample, you can press the Back to Scan button
Dump the soil from the bag into the GeoPress mixer to grind and mix the sample. Transfer the ground up soil to the fill funnel and lift up on the funnel to package and write the sample information to the GeoTube.
Once the sample packaging and labeling is complete, you will see a confirmation page on the app that shows the sample information that was written to the GeoTube.
To package another sample, press Scan Next GeoBag and repeat steps 4-7. When finished, press Finish and Review.
GeoPress Lite
Navigate to the GeoBag Transfer page as stated in the GeoPress steps 1-2 above
Power on the GeoPress Lite. Once the LED light starts flashing yellow, connect the GeoPress Lite to your device by selecting the GeoPress icon at the top of the page and pressing Connect
Once connected, press the Menu button in the upper right corner of the GeoPress control window.
Scroll down to the Settings section of the menu, and press the dropdown arrow next to Write on Load. Change this setting to Yes and press Apply. There will then be a green "T" next to that setting. Press the X in the top left corner of the GeoPress control page to close the window
On the GeoTube Transfer page, press the Scan GeoBag button. Use the camera on your device to scan the QR code on the GeoBag
Once the QR code is recognized, the camera will close and the sample will be ready to package with the GeoPress. If you would like to rescan your sample, you can press the Back to Scan button
Decap and place an empty GeoTube in the GeoPress Lite. Slide the GeoTube back underneath the plunger. The LED light will flash green, and then go solid green once the GeoTube is under the plunger. The sample data will be written to the GeoTube when the LED light is solid green
Once the light turns green, you should see a transfer confirmation page on the Radicle App showing the sample information that was written to the GeoTube
Use the GeoPress Lite ginder to mix and blend up the soil from the GeoBag (if necessary), and then transfer the soil into the GeoPress Lite. Press down on the handle to stuff the soil into the GeoTube. You will still hear and audible beep when the plunger senses that there is enough soil in the tube
Slide the full GeoTube out from underneath the plunger, place the cap on top, and press down on the plunger handle again to discard excess soil.
Repeat steps 5-10 for all other GeoBag samples. Press Finish and Review once complete.
Phone
Navigate to the GeoBag Transfer page as stated in the GeoPress steps 1-2 above with your phone.
Transfer the soil from the GeoBag to a GeoTube. Be sure to fully pack the GeoTube with soil. Failure to pack enough soil into the GeoTube will cause issues when running through the Radicle Lab. Combined soil an GeoTube weight should be over 320 grams.
Packing soil into the GeoTube can either be done by hand, or with a unpowered GeoPress Lite.
Once soil is packed into the GeoTube, press the Scan GeoBag button
This will open the camera on your phone. If prompted to the Radicle App to access your camera, press Allow
Using your camera, scan the QR code on the GeoBag
Once scanned, press the Scan to GeoTube button
When prompted, scan the RFID tag by sticking the top of your phone on the bottom of the GeoTube that you just filled with the soil from the GeoBag. If the RFID tag writing is successful, you will see a blue check mark. If the tag writing fails, it will show a red X.
Once written, you will see a transfer confirmation page with the sample information that was written to the GeoTube
Press Scan Next GeoBag, and repeat steps 2-7 to transfer other GeoBag samples into GeoTubes.
