- Identify which chemicals need to be replaced.
The level of chemical in each bottle is displayed on the chemical dashboard.
Current Rule of Thumb for replacing is:
| Chemical Name/Type | Level to replace at if running OVERNIGHT | Level to replace at if running OVER WEEKEND |
| Extractants, Reagents, Diluent, Neutralizer | 100 samples remaining | 400 samples remaining |
| P std 1 and pH std 1 | 7 calibrations remaining | 27 calibrations remaining |
| P std 2,3,4 and pH std 2 | 2 calibrations remaining | 2 calibrations remaining |
| MicroGlow standards 1-4 | 2 calibrations remaining | 7 calibrations remaining |
Press Select Chemicals to choose the chemical bottle(s) from the list that need to be replaced
This is done on the Radicle Lab chemical dashboard page on either the Radicle App website or mobile app.
Once the bottles to replace have been selected, press Empty and Replace at the bottom of the page to and then Start Neutralization on the following page to start the neutralization process.
This will empty the remaining chemical in the bottle and neutralize it before discard it through the Radicle Lab
The app will show Neutralization in Progress at the top of the chemical dashboard as it is going through the neutralization process
WARNING: DO NOT REPLACE BOTTLES UNTIL NEUTRALIZATION IS COMPLETE.
Replacing a bottle during the neutralization process will result in chemical out of the new bottle being wasted and the chemical count to be incorrect.
Once neutralization is complete, the status will change to Ready for Replacement and a green Replace button will be visible at the top of the page. The next steps of the replacement process will need to be done using a mobile device with a camera to scan the QR codes on the new chemical bottles
After pressing the Replace button, press Tap to Scan the Full Bottle to open your device's camera (if prompted, allow the Radicle App access to your device's camera)
- With the camera open, scan the QR code on the new bottle
- Once the bottle is scanned, replace the empty bottle on the lab with the new chemical bottle. Wear the provided nitrile gloves and safety glasses when swapping the chemical bottles. Failure to do so could result in physical harm
- To swap the chemical bottle
- Unscrew the cap off of the old bottle and pull the cap and draw straw assembly out of the bottle
- Open the new chemical bottle
- Insert the draw straw into the new bottle and screw the cap on the top. Ensure the draw straw is resting on the bottom of the new bottle. If the straw gets stuck on the side of the bottle it could result in insufficient chemical pulls
- Cap the old bottle using the cap taken off of the new bottle
- Once all bottles are scanned and replaced, continue to the replacement summary window. A chemical Prime sequence will automatically be checked so the lines will prime with the new bottle. If Calibrate is checked, a calibration will automatically run after the priming sequence if the bottle being replaced requires a calibration. Additional calibrations can be added by checking them on the calibration list. If you would like the lab to start running samples after the prime and calibration, check the Run Samples option on. Press Continue to proceed
| Bottles that Require Recalibration | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 |
| Bottles that do not Require Recalibration | 0, 1, 8, 9, 13 |
- The Radicle Lab will then proceed through each step sequentially starting with priming, then calibrating if necessary, followed by running samples if that option was selected
